On 23rd/24th June, depending on the time zone, we will be under the magnetic inflow of energy of the New Moon at 2 degrees Cancer. Cancer is a water sign. In traditional astrology, it is ruled by the Moon, while esoterically it is governed by Neptune. This sign is one of the two gates of the zodiac because, through it, souls pass into outer manifestation and to the appropriation of form, and subsequent identification with it for many long cycles. As Master Djwal Khul affirms in Alice Baileys’s esoteric astrology text, it is “the gate which stands wide open, broad and easy to pass through and yet it leads unto the place of death and to that long imprisonment which precedes the final revolt.”
Cancer is allied with the material aspect of life, the mother of all forms, while Capricorn, the other gate at its opposite, it is related to Spirit, the Father of all there is. Cancer holds the secret of the Law of Rebirth, which is the awakening to the spiritual energy hidden behind the manifested universe, as matter is just Spirit at its lower vibration. “In Cancer, God breathed into man’s nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul” (Djwal Khul), establishing the relation which exists in the mind of God between spirit (the breath of life), the soul (consciousness) and man (the form).

In the Jewish tradition Cancer is connected to the Hebrew letter Hei, which means window, and it is associated to the Breath of Life, the breath of the Soul. The breath of the letter Hei gives the power to be born again, without being overwhelmed by the torment of what has gone and what has never come. It is a letter of inspiration, the one which can blow the Divine breath on human lives in order to bring them into existence, or rebirth, when, because of pride or weakness, we have experienced bewilderment and denied the soul life.
The Sabian symbol of this New Moon is “a man bundled in fur leads a shaggy deer“, which expresses the need to overcome stagnation and “cold” during trial of endurance (Dane Rudhyar). This image explains that we will experience a period of trials and a testing of the will. Esoterically, Cancer is about endings and the karmic conclusion of life circumstances; it is about our close relationships, our home/house and our psychological foundations.
The Moon and the Sun, located at the same degree, are conjunct Mercury, Vulcan and Mars. Opposite we find the Black Moon Lilith and Saturn, which just about to enter the Gandanta Point, the spiritual karmic knot, an astrological place of enormous transformation, which will bring up deep issues that need to be faced in order to accelerate the growth of the soul. The Moon represents the personality and the Sun the soul. This means that in our close relationships and in our house/families deep buried and unspoken issues are going to emerge.
The truth will come to the surface and everything that was hidden will be revealed: “Do not tell lies, and do not do what you hate, for all things are plain in the sight of Heaven. For nothing hidden will not become manifest, and nothing covered will remain without being uncovered.” (Gospels of Thomas, saying 6:1-5)

Lilith is an ally when we look into the dark mirror that reflects the fears that do not allow us to move to the next level of consciousness. She works with the intimate aspects of our life and delves in our soul’s desire placing curse on those who deny her validity, until we take the quest to be who we really are: “I am your trial and realizer real eyes: Her. You haven’t seen yourself until you meet me in the root of your tree and its fruit.” (Living Lilith, M. Kelley Hunter)
In the alchemical process Cancer is associated to dissolution, the blue phase, which is part of the Black Work, where we dissolve ourselves before our eyes in order to reveal the purest part within us. This process occurs deeply within the unconscious and rejected part of the self by breaking down our conditioned patterns.

“Within the alchemist, the dissolving Water of Dissolution can take the form of dreams, voices, visions, and strange feelings which reveal a less ordered and less rational world existing simultaneously with our everyday life. During Dissolution, the conscious mind lets go of control to allow the surfacing of buried material and tied up energy. Dissolution can be experienced as “flow,” the bliss of being well-used and actively engaged in creative acts without personal hang-ups or established hierarchy getting in the way. […] Physiologically, Dissolution is the continuance of the kundalini experience, the opening-up of energy channels in the body to recharge and elevate every single cell. Dissolution takes place in the Genital or Tin Chakra and involves changes in the lungs and spleen. On the planetary level, Dissolution is the Great Flood, the cleansing of the earth of all that is inferior.” – The AZoth Ritual by Dennis William Hauck
From the numerological point of view this Moon occurs on 24th June 2017. 24 is called Alchemy, the transformation through time and space, occurring at the rhythm of going within, curling up within the self with the purpose of blending the different aspects of the individual, as the total is 40/4, which is called Great Responsibility. 40 has to find peace through the conflict of the war; on the lower level, we may be overwhelmed by a feeling of a burden; it is saying to us “Who do you think you are?”

Neptune will be sextile the Moon. Neptune has just turned retrograde on 16th June and it will go back to its direct movement only on 22nd November. Neptune is about the urge to escape from all limitations, and it will disintegrate all the patterns of our life and personality that do not belong to the soul quality, while Saturn will force us to see it and face it. It is a force beyond our control, which is going to lead us into a deep emotional drowning, asking us to go deeply inside, just at the very centre of the self, the soul. Saturn will make us learn it in the hard way, holding us in a space where we apparently cannot move until the Black Moon Lilith opens the only door leading to the soul. Saturn is at 23° 52’. In numerology 23 is about the Key to the Sun (the soul), the need to rise the way we think, but this can only happen if all is lost and we meet the inner truth – number 52. Pluto at 19° Capricorn indicates an accelerated growth, while Uranus at 28° Aries highlights the need to listen to the inner voice.
The time has come to fall into your soul, as only soul may dissolve the pride intellect and all the karmic conditioned patterns. Everything around us will dissolve leaving only an empty space. We may feel confused and experience a sense of disorientation, but this is just the reflection of the dissolution of the idea we had about ourselves, the public person we thought ourselves to be.
Cancer is the place of symbolic imprisonment and emphasises the pains and penalties of wrong orientation. It’s time to become aware of it and leave the old shell behind – the dark prison we have built, so that we can grow and create our true inner house of light. In that vastness of sacred space the magnetic love of the soul, the true self, the “I am”, will become the pivot of our lives so that we may plant the seeds of the new life that it is just about there waiting for us. It’s time to trust the calling of our heart and take a leap of faith into the mystery of who we truly are.

When you want to lay yourself open for the divine,
Like a snare that it is hollowed out to its depth,
Like a canopy that projects the shadow from the divine heat and light
Into your soul, then go into your inner place,
To that story or symbol that reminds you of the sacred.
Close the doors of your awareness to the public person you think yourself to be.
Pray to the parent of creation with your inner sense, the outer senses turned within.
Veiling yourself, the mystery may be unveiled through you.
By opening yourself to the flow of the sacred, somewhere, resounding in some inner form,
The swell of the divine ocean can move through you.
The breathing of life of all reveals itself in the way you live your life.
